- I will create a Google Doc and share it with everyone in your group.
- Each person/pair then must copy and paste your piece of the debate prep into that document. Be sure to put your name at the beginning of your writing so you get credit for it!
- Once everyone has copied their work into the document, each person in the group needs to read the entire document.
- Once you've read the document, you group needs to determine who is going to read the prepared remarks for each section of the debate:

- health and environment
- culture/values
- If you are delivering prepared remarks, you must practice reading it out loud at least once.

2. Preparing to Debate - Today you will be gathering
with other students who have chosen the same option as you, to prepare
as a group for the debate next class. Each group needs to following:
A. You need to present the viewpoints of your option on the economy, international security, international relations, health and environment, and culture/values.
Use your "Options" handout and graphic organizer. Assign a member of
your group to become an expert on each of those issues. The expert
should write a paragraph that will be read to the class during the
debate.
B. You need an Opening Statement that introduces
the class to your option. You should also provide an attack against each of the other options. Use the "Options" handout, but be sure to
write it in your own words. It should 30 seconds to one minute when read aloud (approx. 1/2-1 page typed).
C. You need two examples from the past when the US took an
action that matches with the goals of your option. This will be used as
evidence that your option has been successful in the past. You need to
write a paragraph that summarizes the event, and explains how/why it
supports the views of your option.

world (other countries), or involves an event in another country that
might eventually involve the United States.
- After reading the article, answer the following questions in the App of your choice (or handwritten):
- 1. Summarize the event or issue that is the focus of the article.
- 2. Explain what the role of the US is in the event.
- 3. Explain your opinion on this event, and your opinion on any actions taken by the United States.
- 4. What do you predict will happen with this issue in the future?
